The Cape Winelands Health District is seeking a skilled and experienced Artisan Assistant to join their team in the Stellenbosch Sub-district. SALARY: R183 279 per annum
CENTRE: Stellenbosch Sub-district
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum educational qualification: Grade 10 (or equivalent)
- Appropriate handyman experience within a Government Department
- Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s license
- Willingness to work overtime when required
- Ability to perform standby duties when required
- Capability to perform strenuous physical labour
- Ability to function independently, plan (pro-active) and work in a team
- Ability to adhere to safety standards

DEPARTMENT OF Cape Winelands: The successful candidate will possess a diverse skill set, including expertise in areas such as plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, welding, and general repairs and installations. They will be responsible for maintaining and repairing the district’s plant equipment, including autoclaves, steam generators, water tanks, calorifiers, and standby generators. Additionally, they will assist with preventive maintenance procedures to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the healthcare facilities.
DUTIES:
- Assist with repairs and installation of projects, emergency breakdowns
- Maintain and repair of plant equipment
- Assist in preventive maintenance procedures, such as autoclave, steam generators, water tanks, calorifier and standby generators
- Perform basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, welding, repairs and installations
- Assist with the control and requisitioning of material and parts
- Strictly adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act
